Case 06

Enterprise Knowledge Capture, Lessons That Scale

Case Study Strategist & Writer · Word, PowerPoint · Internal Knowledge Management

The Situation

A multi year energy client relationship was winding down, and with it, years of hard won operational knowledge risked walking out the door along with whoever remembered it best. None of it existed anywhere except in people's heads and scattered email threads.

Stepping In

I treated this like an investigative writing project rather than an administrative task. I synthesized the challenges, interventions, and outcomes from years of work into a structured, reusable case study format, and built executive facing summary assets that could actually be used in onboarding conversations and pitch decks, not just filed away and forgotten.

"The goal was not to document everything. It was to preserve what actually mattered."
The Turning Point

The hardest part was deciding what to leave out. Capturing everything would have made the case study unusable to anyone who had not lived through the project. Capturing too little would have lost the nuance that made the work valuable in the first place. Finding that line took several rounds of cutting.

What Came Of It

New hire ramp up time on similar projects dropped by 20 percent, measured against previous onboarding timelines, by converting years of operational memory into a standardized case study and template format. The model is now used across multiple onboarding tracks and strategic training sessions well beyond the original client relationship it was built for.

Knowledge capture is as critical as delivery execution, because lessons preserved turn into future accelerators.
